Telenor Pakistan’s Digital Accelerator Program, Telenor Velocity, is back with Digital Hackfair 2.0 in partnership with Google. Digital Hackfair 2.0 is a virtual hackathon bringing the best developers and innovators from Pakistan to use Google technologies such as Android to build impactful solutions. This is the second time Velocity and Google have come together to inspire the nation’s youth to create solutions that help empower women in Fin-tech, Health-tech, Agri-tech, Ed-tech & Cyber Security.
Digital Hackfair 2.0 aims to create opportunities for young innovators to learn new skills and build an enabling ecosystem for the rising developer population in Pakistan. As a cross-learning platform, it also provides an exciting learning opportunity through mentorship and workshops by experts. UI/UX, Design Thinking, Product Development, Market and User Research, Data Analytics, and Android are areas where tech experts from Google & Telenor will provide mentoring.
“Pakistan has immense potential and a growing need for digital solutions, and together with Google, we have dedicated this year’s hackathon to solutions that equip women with the tools they need to prosper and empower them to be an active part of the future’s economy,” said Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Operating Officer, Telenor Pakistan.
Google South Asia Director, Farhan Qureshi, commented “It’s an honor to be supporting the developer ecosystem in Pakistan together with Telenor Pakistan. I hope that young innovators who apply to this program will apply the skills they learn through this amazing opportunity on inclusive solutions that can change the world. I’m excited to see what they will create in this hackathon.”
The hackathon will open for submissions on 2nd September 2021, for one month on DevPost. After the submission deadline, judges will select the top apps from Pakistan and mentor the developers before their online pitch to industry experts. Finally, three winners will be selected who will be awarded cash prizes of PKR 100,000, PKR 80,000, and PKR 50,000 for the top three positions.
