The online Payment provider giant Stripe, founded by the Limerick brothers John and Patrick Collison, has launched in five new European countries. Stripe has launched in the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Malta, taking its total to 39 countries worldwide, 29 of which are in Europe.
“Stripe is in 39 countries now, 29 of which are in Europe,” said Matt Henderson, Stripe’s Business Lead for Europe, Middle East, and Africa. “We are excited about bringing Stripe to even more European countries, making payment acceptance and money movement faster and less complicated for everyone. We are nearing our goal of making Stripe universally available to businesses across the continent.”
While millions of startups have seen their purse strings tighten, Stripe has seen an increase in demand for its services.
Stripe says that its plans for expansion had been “increased by the accelerated shift from offline to online that the COVID-19 crisis has brought with it.”
According to Stripe, the five countries will be able to access the company’s entire product stack for launching, running, and scaling their businesses. The company will also offer its Stripe Connect solution for running multi-sided marketplaces, billing for subscriptions and recurring payments, radar for fraud detection and prevention, Sigma for analytics, etc. The company has been available for beta testers in the above countries until now.
