Grameenphone has collaborated with Fortumo to launch direct carrier billing (DCB) in Bangladesh.
Grameenphone is enabling its customers to use DCB, which is an online payment method that allows them to make purchases by charging payments to their mobile bill.
The partnership will allow all digital content merchants to collect carrier billing payments from Grameenphone subscribers through Fortumo’s Hosted DCB solution. The approach enables merchants to launch carrier billing in a scalable manner. One integration with Fortumo enables payments with Grameenphone and hundreds of other mobile operators across the world.
Solaiman Alam, Chief Digital and Strategy Officer, Grameenphone, said:
“There is a market demand for easy digital payment using mobile balance for popular apps and facilitating such payments through partners like Fortumo will help Grameenphone to give our customers what matters the most. To provide simplified solutions to the customers, we are pleased to partner with Fortumo, which is trusted by renowned global merchants. We look forward to a promising future.”
Taavi Krusell, Vice President, Telco Partnerships, Fortumo, added:
“Carrier billing gives digital service providers access to the most widely available and simplest mechanism for collecting payments from their content. Rather than integrating with each mobile operator separately, Fortumo enables carrier billing connections at a scale and through one integration. We are excited to expand our partnership with Grameenphone and bring direct carrier billing services to Bangladesh.”
