Syed Wajahat Founder of Learning Pitch, while conversing with Daily NewsPK elaborated on their mission to provide affordable and accessible education to the masses in Pakistan and how they are realising it.
1. What led you to create ‘Learning Pitch’? When was it founded?
Sep 2017, I quit Microsoft to start Learning Pitch, it started with a mission to make quality education affordable and accessible.
Coming from a diverse background and experience of working in Pakistan, Middle East and East African region with companies like Microsoft, Emirates Airlines, etc. I wanted to use my strong technology background to disrupt the Pakistani Education landscape.
2. What are the pain points that you are targeting and what is the key differentiating factor from similar offerings?
The issue that students in Pakistan are facing right now is that the cost of quality education is very high. It’s not affordable for the masses. Another issue that our students face is accessibility. Even if education is affordable, students might not be able to avail it due to the proximity of those particular institutions. Our platform solves both these problems by providing quality education that is both affordable and accessible. Students receive world-class educational content at the very convinces of their homes.
There are two key differentiating factors that sets us apart from our competitors; Content that is created and the platform we use. Our content is rich and enjoyable. We use animations and Learning Glass technology to make learning more engaging and fun for the students. In fact, Learning Pitch is a pioneer in introducing “Learning Glass” technology in Pakistan, also referred as “Light board”. We have our studios and our production team that helps to create digital content that is of such a standard, that it would be hard to find not only in Pakistan but abroad as well.
The platform we use is the Learning Management System (LMS) and it is based on open edX. This platform is scalable thus it allows us to reach thousands of children across Pakistan and all over the globe. Open edX is currently used by top 9 universities in the world from the top 10 list.
3. What is the core service/solution you are providing?
We provide e-learning platforms where students enroll and they conduct their studies online. We work for three segments. TSB Education covers Accountancy, CA, ACCA, and ICMA. It is an accomplishment for us that we have students enrolled from 25+ countries including India and Afghanistan. My Inter-Academy facilitates the academic needs of students of Matriculation and Intermediate and we currently have students enrolled from Sindh and Punjab. Ecademus is specifically designed for the secondary section mainly from grades 6 to 8. All these platforms are being offered at a nominal price.
Our concept-based model is designed in a way that it starts with a lecture, then there is animation that help student to visualize complex concepts. Once the concepts are clear students use simulation (game) to reinforce what they just learned. Then an assessment is conducted and finally, students are provided with notes and past papers to practice their knowledge. There is a topic vise workflow.
4. What are the parameters to measure client satisfaction?
Our student retention rate is high which demonstrates the student’s satisfaction.
Additionally, students give their reviews on Facebook, WhatsApp and our website to validate our performances. Anyone can check this on our social media platforms. We also conduct surveys periodically. We are now adopting to Net performance score to measure our performance.
5. What is your future outlook and what do you stand to achieve by next year?
Learning Pitch wants to make quality education accessible to every student of Pakistan and bring reasonable and affordable education to all Pakistani students. We want to create equal opportunities for students. A year from now I want as many schools and students from all walks of life to enroll with us and be part of this amazing learning journey.
