An active player in setting the pace for digital transformation, Ooredoo congratulated the LoRa Alliance® Board and members for a successful LoRaWAN® World Expo in Paris. Hosted by the LoRa Alliance®, the two-day event featured some of the world’s most powerful names in technology and business, highlighting the transformational power of the LoRaWAN® ecosystem for Internet of Things (IoT) and devices management platforms. As the first telecoms operator in Oman and the GCC to have joined the open, non-profit association, LoRa Alliance®, in 2019, the membership enables the company to collaborate with other IoT service providers, chip manufacturers, solution developers and other businesses serving the industry’s requirement to push the technology forward. The Expo presented a unique opportunity for Ooredoo, its partners and clients, to discover new partnerships, meet other LoRa Alliance® members, create new business opportunities, and learn how to advance its IoT solutions to drive return on investment.
As the leading LoRaWAN® network provider in Oman, Ooredoo has supplied clients in the utilities sector with cutting edge IoT technologies since 2018, securely hosted by its Data Centre in Muscat. Up to the end of 2021, Ooredoo and its partners, the National Energy Center (NEC) and the Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company (Diam/Haya), successfully completed the installation of 330K IoT-enabled smart water meters, which now cover 50% of Diam’s customers. Meanwhile, Ooredoo continues to hit milestone after milestone on its journey to position Oman as a knowledge-based and technologically advanced society in line with Oman’s 2040 Vision.
