Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia Company collaborated with Saudi Payments to launch “mada Pay” application, through the HUAWEI AppGallery application platform. mada Pay is the first contactless payment innovative solution in Saudi Arabia.
The app will allow users to store all their cards issued by local banks in the Kingdom in a single digital wallet and then pay through NFC contactless payment technology, without the need to present the card.
“Huawei is very pleased to be able to bring mada Pay, the leading payment app in the Kingdom, to the HUAWEI AppGallery,” said Bill Yu, Vice President, Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia Company.
“The addition of mada Pay to the HUAWEI AppGallery gives Huawei users even more choice of apps and more functionality from the Huawei smart devices, combined with the trust and superior performance they have come to expect from official verified apps. We welcome mada Pay to the HUAWEI AppGallery and look forward to adding even more great content and apps to the platform in the future”, he added.
Mada Pay app can be used internationally as well. The app archives the latest purchase operations made by users. This step will help the users to see where they have used their cards and track of their spending.
All data on the app is encrypted, and the actual card data is not shared with merchants, to keep card details secure. As part of the Huawei app ecosystem, the app has passed a strict verification process, which ensures it meets the highest standards of digital security.
Saudi Payments Managing Director Ziad bin Bandar Al-Yousef said: “Saudi Payments seeks to enable and develop the e-payment system in the Kingdom, by providing safe, reliable, effective, and low-cost services. This agreement, with Huawei, aims to launch mada Pay application via the HUAWEI AppGallery platform to enhance the contactless payment service for Huawei users in Saudi Arabia. This step has been made after Huawei designed a comprehensive system of applications, which has the same safety and identity protection standards that mada provides in all its services.”
Al Yousef added: “Huawei created an app ecosystem that has the same high regard for security and identity protection that mada has built into all of its services, so making mada Pay available on the HUAWEI AppGallery was a mutual effort, and will give Huawei users a new choice for mobile payments supported by advanced security infrastructure by virtue of the latest technologies provided by the National Payments ecosystem “mada”. Knowing that, mada Pay transactions volume in May, 2020 has reached 2,089,426 generating a value of SAR 207,161,035”.
“Huawei mobile devices are very popular in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, we must hardly work to provide a service that will give Huawei users a new option to make contactless payments supported by a safe and advanced infrastructure through smartphones,” he added.
