Atlassian is partnering with Stripe to simplify and scale its global payments and billing systems for its $1.6 billion in software revenue.
Atlassian chose Stripe because of its flexible billing solution and deeply collaborative approach to enterprise partnerships which would enable Atlassian to consolidate its payments and billing systems into a single, easy-to-use architecture. In scoping out the partnership, Stripe and Atlassian worked closely together to design over a dozen custom features to help Atlassian increase its revenue as its enterprise product suite expands.
Stripe Billing is powered by a machine learning architecture that is constantly learning from over 100,000 businesses on the Billing network. Atlassian can now instantly schedule subscriptions, quickly customize their pricing models and fully automate B2B payment support.
Since 2015, Atlassian has acquired several companies to expand its suite of offerings to plan projects, resolve incidents and deploy products. But while Atlassian wanted to build their own billing solution to create a unified purchasing experience across all of their products, they hit a common stumbling block: the project would require allocating engineering resources away from Atlassian’s core products.
Stripe’s infrastructure serves as the connective layer across Atlassian’s subscription offerings, Atlassian can reduce operational costs, leading to further opportunities to maximize revenue.
Chandra Elango, Head of Go To Market IT at Atlassian, commented:
“When you serve over 200,000 businesses ranging from 10 to 100,000 employees, building a homegrown billing solution to serve both SMB and enterprise businesses is a massive undertaking. By partnering with Stripe, we were able to build a scalable purchasing experience for our customers while focusing our engineering resources on bringing our product innovations to our customers faster.”
Atlassian CIO Archana Rao, commented:
“By leveraging Stripe, we’re investing in helping Atlassian’s scale for years to come. We’re leaving all things payments to Stripe so our teams remain focused on strengthening our unique sales motion to bring products to markets for our customers.”
Mike Clayville, Chief Revenue Officer at Stripe, commented:
“The increasing depth of our product suite is making Stripe a powerful revenue multiplier for internet businesses – without them having to lift a finger. We’re thrilled that Atlassian chose to partner with Stripe to streamline subscriptions across its product offerings.”
